Cyber thieves stole $1.7 billion in 2018 through scams and hacks: Cipher Trace

Cipher Trace has released a new report claiming that thefts and scams involving cryptocurrencies soared 400 percent to $1.7 billion last year. The California-based research firm adds that most of the assets that were stolen came from attacks on cryptocurrency exchanges. It says these amounted to nearly $1 billion, which is up 3.6 times in comparison to 2017. The report also reveals that 58% of users affected by the crypto crimes are from South Korea and Japan.
